JAGODA is Zambia’s longest established fine jeweller. The rich history of the JAGODA name (which stands for Jade Gold and Diamonds) spans five generations and three continents. The Zambian chapter of the story began unexpectedly in 1984. Ross Walker and his wife Claire Chan were on holiday at Chibembe Lodge in the Luangwa National Park where, in a chance encounter, they heard that there were gemstones to be found in the region. Through Zambia’s Foreign Investment Programme, they soon acquired a shared interest in an Aquamarine mine in the Lukusuzi Game Park, near South Luangwa National Park. With the experience gained, Ross and Claire decided to expand into tourmaline mining and secured a concession in Mkushi.
JAGODA rapidly grew to become one of Africa's largest Tourmaline producers, exporting globally to markets in Asia, Europe and North America. However, the company’s founders had the foresight to realise that Zambia’s future would not rest on raw materials and that to ensure a sustainable future, they would have to unleash the potential of local artistic talent and craftsmanship.
Hence, the JAGODA jewellery brand was created in 1991 and in a short time achieved international acclaim for its distinct design philosophy, beautiful workmanship and an uncompromising commitment to quality. Our passion for fine jewellery is carefully and precisely channeled into every step of the jewellery creation process from sourcing, cutting and polishing a gemstone, to the shaping and fashioning of the finished piece.
JAGODA is the only Zambian jeweller that is registered with the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) and we guarantee all our products are free of unethical enhancements. Full disclosure of any treatment is given prior to purchase.
